    2. this story is about Jemina, Pitt's daughter, mixed in a bad murder affair, in NY, where she is to meet a very nice policeman

    3. Not very interesting; the characters had no time to develop and neither did the plot really. I found it disappointing as it was obvious from the start who was responsible for the murder, and with the lack of character development I soon lost interest. Not a patch on Anne Perry's usual work.

    4. This was my first encounter with Anne Perry`s Christmas writings. I was interested in the setting as I had spent a few days in New York at the end of last year. It seemed a good complement to end the year with. I was surprised to see a mature Jemima being thrust into a meeting with the New York police to solve a crime. It was a good device to have her in NY as she is definitely on her own in sorting out the mystery - reaching out to her parents is at best a time consuming process and at wors [...]

    5. I encourage all who have read Anne Perry's stories about Thomas Pitt to read this next book. It is about his daughter, who at this stage is 23, and the mystery she gets entangled in while in New York chaperoning a young friend. It's a very good story. Please read the book description, I can't do better at describing what goes on without giving away the whole plot. I have read all of Anne Perry's books and enjoyed them all.

    6. Anne Perry is one of my favorite story-tellers. She has rich characters and wonderful plots and I have thoroughly enjoyed all of both her Thomas Pitt and William Monk series of books. And I love the way she has spun these Christmas books off by making secondary characters of those two major series come alive with adventures and lives of their own. I feel a kinship with Jemima Pitt, almost as I were an uncle, having been there when her parents met and eventually fell in love, having been there [...]

    7. I loved this book. Sending Jemima Pitt off to New York, and then finding herself the chief suspect in a murder, is a good start for what could be another series for Anne Perry. It ties in nicely with Charlotte and Thomas Pitt, yet it's younger and based on another continent during the early part of the last century. I wish it had been longer. It felt a little rushed at the end. But I'm willing to forgive, if Anne Perry finds a way to keep this storyline going in future books.

    8. Anne Perry always does a nice job with her Christmas stories. This one involves Jemima Pitt, the daughter of Thomas and Charlotte. She takes a job as a companion and travels to New York. A murder ensues and she works to solve the case without having to contact her father. The length and narrative matched perfectly. I have found that the regular novels by Perry are getting a bit repetitive--not as good as her earlier ones, so I am happy with the shorter novellas. A nice read for an afternoo [...]
